As teachers, it is our job to go through multiple plans to find what suits our children on any given day. Even when behavior is not an issue, there is always a need to recognize the GOOD behavior (and if it helps the bad behavior, then it's a good day!)
So you might be wondering...what does VIP have to do with behavior?!?!?
Thanks to Amanda at Teaching Maddeness, we heard of the ah-mazing VIP table that has transformed our classrooms in more ways than we could have ever imagined!
We could NOT wait to set this up in our classrooms, but as all teachers know, you must take it one step at a time. Both of our classes knew something new was in store for each classroom. Before the VIP table made it's appearance, the students were introduced to what it takes to be a VIP.
Now, not every student thought the VIP table was awesome. There were a few boys who thought the table was "lame," but their opinion quickly changed. VIP's have the privilege to use "top of the line" supplies while they are at the VIP table. If they want to use a fancy colored pen, go ahead!
Pens, Mechanical Pencils, Erasers, Stamps, Markers, and Sticky Notes galore! |
Each VIP gets their own basket of BRAND new crayons and scissors. What could be better?!? |
VIPs get to do everything first and they get to sign their name on the table. Wait just a minute....you mean they get to WRITE on the table? You've got that right! They get to pick any color Sharpie and sign their name. The kids LOVE adding their name to the table....especially when they get to write it the second time.
While some may think this is just something else to add to a never ending list of things to keep up with, it is in fact one of the easiest ways to motivate all students to do (and act) their best.
